[Saba Sports News] Malaysian badminton player Tan
Kian Meng has shared wedding photos on social media, attracting significant
attention from fans. The photos depict Tan Kian Meng and his beautiful wife
capturing memorable moments on the beach during their wedding shoot. Against
the backdrop of a sunset, Tan Kian Meng lovingly kisses his wife, creating a
joyous scene. Some fans couldn’t help but jest, noting that while everyone else
is busy preparing for the final Olympic points competition ahead of the Paris
Olympics, Tan Kian Meng, who has no chance to compete, finds himself with free
time to take wedding photos. Although he is happy, there is also an underlying
tinge of sadness. Tan Kian Meng, 30 years old and standing at 1.85 meters tall,
has competed in mixed doubles with partners such as Yen Wei Peck, Cheah Yee
See, Lai Pei Jing, as well as men’s doubles with Teo Ee Yi, Tan Wee Kiong, and
others. His most successful partnership was with Lai Pei Jing in mixed doubles,
where they achieved a top-five world ranking. However, due to recent poor
performances, Lai Pei Jing was expelled from the Malaysian national team by the
Malaysian Badminton Association after the Tokyo Olympics. In solidarity, Tan
Kian Meng chose to stand by his partners and made the decision to leave the
Malaysian national team. Currently, the two continue to compete as independent
agents on the international badminton circuit. They won the 2022 Korean
Badminton Open Mixed Doubles Championship and reached the semi-finals of the
2022 year-end finals. Unfortunately, their rankings dropped to 24th due to a
decline in results during the Paris Olympics qualification period, resulting in
their exclusion from the Paris Olympics.
