Sports News] Former Malaysian badminton star Tan Boon Heong, who has retired
from professional badminton, has transitioned into an online anchor. In a
heartwarming video shared on social platforms, Tan Boon Heong revealed that he
purchased a Lexus sports model as a gift for his parents. He expressed his
gratitude to his parents for their support and dedication in nurturing him and
helping him become the number one player in the world. Heong is known for his
success in men’s doubles, shared a photo and caption expressing his
appreciation for his parents. He reminisced about how they would take him to
badminton training when he was just 8 years old, despite his humble salary of
RM600. Heong praised his parents’ unconditional support in helping him achieve
his goals. As a gesture of gratitude, he purchased a car of their liking and
allowed them to enjoy it. Heong had a successful career with a record of 419
wins and 191 losses, formed a renowned doubles partnership with Koo Kien Keat,
known as the “diamond combination.” After retiring in 2020, Heong
initially worked as a commentator before transitioning into an online anchor.
He engages in live broadcasts on social platforms, promoting products and
interacting with fans and netizens.
