[Saba Sports News] NBA player salaries have surged in recent years, and the future holds even more staggering figures. On Wednesday, the All-NBA teams for the 2023-2024 season were announced, with some players poised for significant financial gains.
According to ESPN NBA front office expert Bobby Marks, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a two-time All-NBA team member in 2023 and 2024, is eligible for a supermax extension. This extension would amount to $294 million over four years. Remarkably, Gilgeous-Alexander would earn $81.4 million in the 2030-2031 season, making him the first NBA player to surpass $80 million in a single season.
Gilgeous-Alexander can sign this extension next year, with terms specifying he would earn 35 percent of the projected salary cap from 2027 to 2031. Currently, he is under contract through the 2026-2027 season due to the rookie max contract extension he signed in 2021, which will pay him nearly $115 million over the next three seasons.
