[Saba Sports News] Recently, Suresh Raina, the esteemed former cricketer from India, showered high praise on the emerging star Dhruv Jurel for his stellar performance against England, which played a pivotal role in rescuing India from a dire situation in the last Test of the series. Jurel, with his impressive innings of 90 and an unbeaten 39 on a challenging pitch, demonstrated exceptional skill, capturing Raina’s admiration for the young wicketkeeper-batsman.
Raina, impressed by Jurel’s wicket-keeping prowess and hard work, attributed his fearless approach to his Army family background, according to NDTV.
He praised Jurel’s exceptional performance, and also acknowledged Rohit Sharma’s role in nurturing young talent like Sarfaraz Khan and Jurel, highlighting the difficulty of achieving consecutive significant scores in Test cricket, particularly in a match with challenging conditions.
“I was impressed with his (Jurel’s) wicket-keeping; he has worked really hard. He comes from an Army family, so he has that fearless attitude of never wanting to lose anything from anywhere,” Raina said. “He’s (Jurel) been amazing, I have played a couple of matches with him for Uttar Pradesh. Special credit to Rohit Sharma, the way he gave chances to first Sarfaraz (Khan) and Dhruv Jurel. It is not easy to come into Test cricket and score back-to-back fifties, especially in a crucial Test match where the wicket was turning.”
With the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the horizon, starting March 22, Raina also shared his aspirations for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by Virat Kohli, to clinch their first-ever title. He expressed a keen desire for RCB to overcome past hurdles and secure the championship, especially in light of the Chennai Super Kings’ victory in the previous season.
Raina voiced his support for Kohli and RCB, stating his belief that Kohli’s dedication merits a victory and hoping for the team to finally enrich their trophy cabinet this year.
