[Saba Sports News] Malaysian men’s doubles player Soh Wooi Yik is still hopeful about participating in the BWF World Tour Finals to be held in Hangzhou, China, in December. However, Soh admitted that he and his partner Aaron Chia Teng Fong face a daunting challenge in raising their World Tour ranking to the top 8. It is reported that there are three tournaments left before the World Tour Finals: the Korea Masters, Japan Masters, and China Masters, all taking place in November. Soh mentioned that they have not participated in many tournaments this year, resulting in insufficient World Tour points, currently placing them at 12th. Nevertheless, they are confident about qualifying for the World Tour Finals. Additionally, Soh revealed that he has not fully recovered physically, and his fitness and strength have not yet peaked, needing to find his competitive rhythm again. After suffering a toe fracture on his right foot post-Paris Olympics, the 26-year-old athlete has just recovered from his injury. Due to their bronze medal achievement in men’s doubles at the Paris Olympics, the duo recently received a cash prize of 50,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
