[Saba Sports News] Former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan recently faced racist remarks on social media. However, the ex-spin bowler responded with grace and firmness, shutting down the troll with a powerful response.
Sharing a picture from a temple festival in Mahalingapuram, Tamil Nadu on X (formerly Twitter), Sivaramakrishnan found himself targeted with a racist comment. In response, he acknowledged his skin tone, stating, “Yes I am dark,” and condemned the user’s behavior, calling it “cheap” and suggesting the troll’s ancestors were British colonizers.
Sivaramakrishnan’s bold response garnered widespread support, with cricket fans applauding his stand against racism. His dignified handling of the situation served as an inspiring example of self-respect.
Prior to this incident, Sivaramakrishnan had expressed disappointment with cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin’s behavior. He revealed Ashwin ignored his attempts to congratulate him on his 100th Test milestone, highlighting a lack of respect for former players.
Sivaramakrishnan’s international cricket career included nine Tests and 16 ODIs, where he took 26 and 15 wickets respectively. His best bowling figures were 6/64 in Tests and 3/35 in ODIs.
