[Saba Sports News] Shaq has high expectations for Team USA at the Olympics and isn’t open to excuses.
In the latest episode of “The BIG Podcast,” co-host Adam Lefkoe asked Shaq the minimum point margin the USA men’s Olympic basketball team should win by. O’Neal, a 1996 gold medalist, set the bar high. “If you don’t win by 20, I’m not impressed. You have the best players in the world on one team. If they win, they’re supposed to win. If they don’t win by 20, people will talk.”
Team USA won their first game against Serbia by 26 points and beat South Sudan by 17 in their second game, meeting Shaq’s standard only once so far.
The American players likely won’t pay much attention to Shaq’s commentary. Their focus is on winning gold, not on meeting individual expectations. Besides, there are other critics who are easier targets to clap back at.
