[Saba Sports News] In a significant change ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024, Pakistan cricket has seen Babar Azam reinstated as the white ball captain, taking over from Shaheen Afridi. Afridi, who briefly led the team in a series against New Zealand, resulting in a 1-4 loss, was evidently displeased with his sudden replacement, leading to tensions within the team management. Despite a challenging stint as Lahore Qalandars’ captain in the PSL 2024, where the team placed last, Afridi showcased his prowess as a bowler, securing the fifth-highest wicket tally of the season.
Amidst this leadership upheaval, Afridi expressed his discontent through a veiled message on Instagram, hinting at his capacity for ruthlessness under provocation. This period of controversy follows closely after Babar stepped down post-ODI World Cup 2023, only to be called back to leadership.
“Never ever put me in a position where I have to show you how cruel and ruthless I can be. Don’t test my patience. Because I might be the kindest and sweetest person you’ve ever met, but once I reach my limit, you’ll see me do the things that no one thought I was capable of doing,” said the person in the video.
Currently, the Pakistan team is engaging in a special army-led training camp, gearing up for series against New Zealand, Ireland, England, and the T20 World Cup, signaling a time of intense preparation and perhaps, reconciliation within the squad.
