[Saba Sports News] Sachin Tendulkar, the cricket legend with 15,921 Test runs and 18,426 ODI runs to his name, will grace the statue unveiling ceremony alongside Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis. The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has installed this tribute at the Sachin Tendulkar stand in recognition of his remarkable 50-year journey, which included celebrating his 50th birthday in April 2023.
It’s worth noting that Sachin Tendulkar bid farewell to his illustrious cricket career at his beloved Wankhede Stadium, where he played his 200th and final Test match in November 2013. He had earlier announced his retirement from ODIs in 2012, accumulating a staggering 34,357 runs across 664 international games.
In the ongoing 2023 ODI World Cup, Team India stands as the sole undefeated team, winning all six of their matches. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, India has displayed exceptional prowess, especially when defending a total.
In their sixth game against England, where they were asked to bat first, India recovered from a shaky start to post 229 runs, with Rohit Sharma leading the way with an 87-run knock featuring 10 boundaries and three maximums. The Indian bowlers continued their dominance by restricting the defending champions to 129 runs in 34.5 overs, securing a resounding 100-run victory.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s loss to Afghanistan has made their path to the semi-finals a challenging one. To have any hope of securing a top-four spot, the Kusal Mendis-led side likely needs to win all three of their remaining matches, including the crucial upcoming clash against hosts India.
