[Saba Sports News] Sachin Tendulkar captured the admiration of cricket fans anew by inviting para-cricketer Amir Lone to face the opening ball at the debut Indian Street Premier League (ISPL T10) event.
On March 6, Sachin graced the Dadoji Kondadev Stadium in Thane, Mumbai, where Amitabh Bachchan’s Majhi Mumbai clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Srinagar Ke Veer. The cricket legend thrilled the audience by hitting Akshay’s bowling for several impressive sixes, but not before sharing a memorable moment with Amir Lone, who opened the innings with him.
This gesture was celebrated widely, with former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan commending Sachin for his kind act and praising Amir’s inspiring journey.
“Amir, you are an inspiration! @sachin_rt Paaji what a beautiful gesture,” Pathan shared on X.
Despite a severe accident at age eight, which resulted in the loss of both his arms, Lone persevered in his passion for cricket, adapting uniquely by bowling with his legs and batting using his neck and shoulder. His indomitable spirit and distinctive playing style have not only made him the captain of the Jammu and Kashmir para-cricket team but also an emblem of resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
Sachin’s interaction with Amir and his participation in the ISPL T10, where he scored 30 runs from 17 balls for Master XI against Khiladi XI, underscored his ongoing contribution to cricket’s inspirational narratives. Amir’s background of overcoming incredible odds to continue playing cricket, supported by his family and a local army unit, highlights his exceptional courage and has been an uplifting story for many, eventually leading to this commendable recognition by Sachin Tendulkar.
