[Saba Sports News] In the third T20I against Afghanistan, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma showcased an exceptional batting performance, scoring an unbeaten 121 off 69 balls, including 11 fours and eight sixes, at Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. This innings marked his fifth T20I century, setting a new record in the format. Among his many admirers was India’s star batter Suryakumar Yadav, who watched the match from his hospital bed in Germany, just 20 minutes after undergoing groin surgery.
Suryakumar’s wife, Devisha Shetty, shared a clip of him watching the game and penned a heartfelt message on Instagram about her relief and anticipation for his return to the field, expressing how much his smile reassured her.

“My strong boy. Seeing you sedated and unresponsive was so hard. But then sometime later, you opened your eyes and smiled at me. That one smile meant so much. Can’t wait to see you on the ground real soon,” Devisha shared on Instagram.
The match itself was a nail-biter, with India and Afghanistan playing out the first-ever instance of two super overs in an international game. Despite a shaky start, where India was reduced to 22/4, Sharma and Rinku Singh’s remarkable 190-run partnership steered India to a total of 212/4. Afghanistan matched this score, propelled by half-centuries from Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ibrahim Zadran, and Gulbadin Naib.
The drama escalated with the teams tied in the first super over, leading to a second. Ravi Bishnoi’s defense of 11 runs in this final over clinched a series whitewash for India. Rohit Sharma’s historic century earned him the Player of the Match, while Shivam Dube was named Player of the Series.
