[Saba Sports News] Star India wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant is sitting on the brink of making his long-awaited comeback in professional cricket after suffering from a fatal accident.
Pant met with a car accident in December last year as a result of which, he required a knee surgery. This ruled him out of cricketing action for all of 2023. However, he, reportedly, is getting closer to mark his return in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
As reported by Revsportz, Pant will be Delhi Capitals’ (DC) impact player in IPL 2024, meaning he would not play as a wicket-keeper but purely as a batter.
For the unversed, the impact player rule was first introduced in IPL 2023, allowing a team use an extra player from the list of options they provided while naming their playing XI.
DC retained Pant ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. He is the franchise’s regular captain and if they use him as an impact player, then they would be required to find a new skipper along with a wicket-keeper.
As Pant was unavailable in the previous IPL edition, David Warner led the Capitals.
