[Saba Sports News] India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is making a speedy recovery from his December 30, 2022 car accident. He recently visited the Badrinath shrine in Uttarakhand ahead of his October 4 birthday to seek blessings.
Pant has been undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has been sorely missed by India in important tournaments like the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 and the World Cup 2023. His last match was against Bangladesh in December 2022, where he scored 148 runs in three innings at an average of 49.33 and a strike rate of 91.35, including one fifty.
After the series, he had a car accident on his way home to Roorkee, where he narrowly escaped with the help of locals after his car caught fire. Pant is expected to need more time to regain full fitness. KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have been added to India’s World Cup squad as wicketkeeper-batters in his absence.
Both Rahul and Kishan have been in good form, with Rahul scoring 531 runs from 12 innings at an average of 66.37, and Kishan notching 409 runs in 13 innings at an average of 37.18 and a strike rate of 93.16. They are expected to play crucial roles as India kicks off their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8.
