[Saba Sports News] Delhi Capitals’ star wicketkeeper-batter and captain, Rishabh Pant, is gearing up for a return to competitive cricket after recuperating from a car accident. He recently shared a workout photo, signaling his readiness for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.
In a startling revelation, Pant became a victim of a Rs 1.63 crore fraud perpetrated by Mrinank Singh, a former under-19 cricketer. Singh, who was arrested by Delhi Police, duped Pant in a luxury goods business scheme. Pant’s lawyer, Eklavya Dwivedi, disclosed that Pant had started a business dealing in high-end products. Singh was supposed to procure luxury watches and jewelry but failed to deliver, leading Pant to demand the return of his Rs 1.63 crore.
The situation worsened when a cheque given by Singh bounced, and he accrued a hefty bill at Taj Hotel, falsely claiming it would be paid by his sponsor, Adidas. His attempt to flee to Hong Kong and impersonate a senior police officer was foiled by immigration officials, resulting in his arrest. Despite these challenges, Pant remains focused on his cricketing comeback.
