He expressed hope that the association could hire a full-time psychologist to help the team overcome psychological challenges. Malaysian badminton players face numerous psychological challenges. In major competitions, athletes often experience “mental blocks” at critical moments; for instance, they may lead in the final set but fail to seize the opportunity due to psychological pressure, allowing opponents to make a comeback. Issues such as tension, anxiety, and fear of losing affect their performance in matches. From the perspective of psychological factors, anxiety is one of the significant problems faced by Malaysian badminton players. Concerns about potential threats during training and competitions, such as sudden dangers and injuries, can lead to psychological discomfort and anxiety. Improper emotional control and regulation before and after competitions can also impact their technical performance.
