[Saba Sports News] This year, a new brand has
emerged on the F1 circuit as the AlphaTauri Team (formerly known as the Toro
Rosso Racing Team) officially changed its name to the Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.
However, this rebranding has not been well-received by fans and the media. Some
fans feel that the team has compromised its identity by adopting an anonymous
name that may lose significance once sponsors eventually depart. It is reported
that the name change was prompted by Red Bull’s decision to end its sponsorship
of its subsidiary, AlphaTauri. The team’s new CEO, Peter Bayer, emphasized that
they did not want to be restricted by a partner’s name but sought a timeless,
universally adaptable name that sponsors could align with at any time.
Consequently, the team adopted the names Visa and Cash App as the primary
names, with the abbreviation RB representing Racing Bulls. Additionally, the
abbreviation VCARB was created as an alternate name and officially recognized
as the vehicle’s “model.” Some media outlets believe that the Italian
team’s primary intention is to highlight its two new sponsors, and criticize
the move as overly commercial and excessive.
