[Saba Sports News] Doc Rivers reportedly has his eye on a specific coach to join his Milwaukee Bucks staff. NBA reporter Marc Stein revealed on Wednesday that Rivers is targeting Sam Cassell, currently an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics.
Cassell is also a candidate for the Los Angeles Lakers job. He may have a chance to advance within the Celtics organization since top assistant Charles Lee was hired by the Charlotte Hornets. However, the opportunity to reunite with Rivers could be enticing for Cassell.
Cassell previously coached under Rivers with the Clippers from 2014-2020 and with the 76ers from 2020-2023. The 54-year-old former point guard is in his first season as an assistant with the Celtics, who had the best regular season record.
