[Saba Sports News] The “Daily Mail”
recently reported that Christian Horner, team principal of the Red Bull Formula
1 team, is currently under internal investigation following allegations of
“extremely controlling behavior” made by a female subordinate. An
external specialist lawyer is conducting the investigation. Horner vehemently
denied the accusation, considering it to be unfounded. German newspaper Bild
followed up with a report stating that Horner had sent inappropriate photos to
female subordinates, which the Red Bull Racing team deemed to be inappropriate
conduct. Drawing parallels to the sex scandals involving the former head coach
of the NBA team Celtics and Marc Overmars, the former general manager of Ajax
in football, it appears that Horner’s position is in jeopardy. If the
accusation proves true, it would be untenable for him to continue as team principal,
and he would likely have to resign as a gesture of apology. This turn of events
may mark the end of Red Bull Racing’s peak. With Horner’s departure, it is
expected that Red Bull’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, will also leave
the team. Recent activity on social media, such as Newey’s wife liking a tweet
suggesting Ferrari could benefit from Newey’s expertise, hints at potential
changes. Consequently, Red Bull Racing’s leadership and technical team will
undergo a significant overhaul, potentially leading to a decline in performance
comparable to McLaren’s post-2013 era.
