[Saba Sports News] Rohit Sharma activated his ‘Hitman’ mode in Delhi as Afghanistan had to face the wrath of his bat.
As Afghanistan gave India a target 273 runs, it was supposed by a tricky chase. However, Rohit with his century, made it a child’s play as India are on the course to achieve an easy win.
Courtesy of his raging hundred, it was a record-galore at the Arun Jaitley Stadium for Rohit, who is undoubtedly a modern-day ODI great.
The 36-year-old became the batter with most hundreds in the ODI World Cups. With this ton versus Afghanistan, Rohit now has seven World Cup centuries in 19 innings.
He overhauled Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of six World Cup hundreds, which came in 44 innings.
Rohit is also now the Indian batter with the fastest hundred in an ODI World Cup. He achieved the three-figure mark in 63 deliveries, leaving behind Kapil Dev, who had scored a century off 72 balls in a match against Zimbabwe during the 1983 World Cup.
At the time of writing, the score reads 197/1 in 24 overs. India need 76 more runs to win with Rohit and Virat Kohli batting on 130 and 11 runs respectively.
