[Saba Sports News] The price of badminton has been soaring since the beginning of this year, with an average increase of more than 50%. Some fans have jokingly compared buying badminton to stock trading. Brands like Yonex, Double Happiness, Lingmei, Victor, Chaopai, Shipeng, Asia Lion, and Weekly have issued price adjustment announcements, leading to complaints from many badminton enthusiasts. For example, Yonex, known as the “price-increasing king” of badminton, raised the retail price of its mainstream high-end model AS-05 badminton from 29 per dozen to 31 per dozen in April. The price further soared to $38 per dozen in July. The main reason for this industry-wide price increase is the soaring price per kilogram of duck and goose feathers, which are used in badminton production. As duck and goose farming has become an unprofitable business due to falling pork prices and strong chicken prices, the badminton industry is facing difficulties in sourcing feathers.
