Raymon Reifer, an all-rounder for the West Indies, was
banned from bowling slower balls and cutters in October 2023, but he has since
been allowed to return. After receiving corrected video of his action,
Loughborough University has approved it.
Reifer’s actions for those balls during his home team
Barbados’ match against Windward Islands in Tarouba in October of last year
were ruled unlawful by the same university. In the encounter, Reifer had bowled
eight overs and gone wicketless while giving up 35 runs.
Later on in the Super50 tournament, Reifer
participated in three of Barbados’ final five games. His final competitive game
took place in November during the semi-final matchup with Leeward Islands.
Reifer has been included in Barbados’ squad for the
first three games of the West Indies Championship, their major first-class
competition, which begins in early February and runs until the end of April.
This is despite the fact that Reifer has recently received permission to bowl
his variations.
Reifer, 32, made his West Indies debut in a 2017 Test
match in Hamilton against New Zealand. He played in his maiden ODI in 2019 and
his first T20I in 2022.
The last time Reifer represented West Indies was
during the first Test against India in July last year.
