[Saba Sports News] Rumors circulated that Ratan Tata, a prominent Indian businessman, was financially assisting Afghan cricketer Rashid Khan. These rumors stemmed from social media posts alleging that Ratan had given INR 10 crore to Rashid after the ICC fined him ₹55 lakh for displaying the Indian flag during celebrations following Afghanistan’s victory over Pakistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup.
However, Ratan Tata categorically denied any cricket involvement, stating that he hadn’t suggested fines or rewards to the ICC or any cricket authority. He emphasized his lack of connection to cricket and urged people to rely on official platforms for accurate information rather than WhatsApp rumors.
“I’ve made no ICC or cricket authority suggestions regarding player fines or rewards. I have no cricket ties. Please don’t believe WhatsApp forwards or videos unless they come from my official platforms,” Ratan Tata wrote on ‘X.’
Some individuals praised Ratan Tata for allegedly supporting Rashid Khan financially, but it’s crucial to note that he hadn’t made any financial commitments to cricket bodies or players.
