[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz collided with Red Bull driver Sergio Perez towards the end of the race, resulting in both drivers retiring from the race. This incident attracted significant attention. Both Red Bull and Ferrari had their own narratives, claiming fault on each other’s part, which led to race officials getting involved. Ultimately, after hearing statements from both drivers and team representatives and reviewing data, video footage, and onboard footage, race officials decided not to impose penalties. It was reported that race officials deemed it a racing incident with no clear fault from either driver, thus no further action was taken. The unexpected collision caused both drivers to lose valuable points. For Ferrari, Sainz had been expected to achieve a good position and help secure more points alongside Leclerc, but this collision led to his retirement, widening the gap between Ferrari and Red Bull and McLaren in the team standings. Red Bull was similarly affected, as Perez’s retirement cost them valuable points. McLaren took advantage of this situation to overtake Red Bull in the team standings and move into first place.
