Sports News] The Indian 3D air combat movie “Fighter” was released on
January 25, and within just three days, it had already amassed 1 billion rupees
in revenue. Speculations from some media outlets suggest that the film’s final
earnings could exceed 20 billion rupees. PV Sindhu, India’s top badminton
player, watched the movie during its first week of release and praised it.
Actress Deepika Padukone acknowledged Sindhu’s comment, retweeted her post, and
wrote, “Love you” with a red heart emoji. Sindhu is a celebrated
figure in the Indian sports world. She secured the women’s badminton singles
silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics and the women’s badminton singles bronze
medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In Forbes’ 2023 list of highest-earning
female athletes, Sindhu ranked 16th, with on-field earnings of US$100,000 and
off-field earnings of US$7 million. Unfortunately, Sindhu had to miss the 2023 BWF
Year-End Finals and the 2024 Malaysian Badminton Open due to injuries. To
ensure her qualification as a seed player in women’s singles badminton for the
Paris Olympics, Sindhu applied for ranking protection from the Badminton World
Federation.
