Sports News] Indian badminton star Praneeth recently made a significant
announcement on social media – he has decided to retire from professional
badminton. Following his retirement, Praneeth will transition into a coaching
career and relocate with his family to the United States. He will be serving as
a coach at the Triangle Badminton Academy in North Carolina. This news has
garnered immediate attention from the global badminton community. Born on
August 10, 1992, Praneeth gained recognition at a young age. He achieved third
place in the men’s singles at the World Youth Badminton Championships before
turning 20. One of his notable accomplishments is defeating badminton legends
such as Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Chen Long, and Taufik Hidayat. However,
Praneeth’s performance suffered a sharp decline after 2020 due to injuries. He
failed to secure any medals in international competitions and experienced early
exits in more than ten tournaments in 2023. As a result, his world ranking
plummeted to 108th, leaving him feeling helpless. Consequently, he made the
decision to retire from professional play and pursue a coaching career.
