[Saba Sports News] One of the Eastern Conference’s most beloved cult heroes is being rewarded in a big way.
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported Friday that Indiana Pacers guard TJ McConnell has secured a contract extension with the team. The deal is reportedly valued at $45 million over four years.
McConnell, a former undrafted guard now 32 years old, has certainly earned this payday. Last season, he posted a career-high 10.2 points per game along with 5.5 assists off the bench for Indiana. McConnell also delivered some clutch performances in the playoffs, recording six games with 15 or more points and playing standout defense against stars like Damian Lillard and Jalen Brunson, helping the Pacers reach an unexpected berth in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Originally set to enter the final year of his contract next season at $9.3 million, McConnell now enjoys a significant and long-term raise. While Pacers fans might still feel the sting of how McConnell’s season ended, they can take comfort in knowing he’s secured through 2029.
