[Saba Sports News] The PBSI (Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia) board plans to establish a badminton coaching academy, according to a recent interview with Agung Firman Sampurna, the chairman of PBSI. Sampurna expressed his hope that his successor could develop an academy specifically dedicated to training badminton coaches. During his term, which ends in August this year, Sampurna has prioritized the cultivation of an excellent badminton coaching team. While Indonesia has many talented coaches, a significant number of them are recruited by other countries. For instance, Nova Widianto is currently coaching the Malaysian mixed doubles team, Flandy Limpele served as a tactician for India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, and Muamar Qadafi is the head coach of Guatemalan player Kevin Cordon. Recognizing the achievements of Indonesian coaches globally, Sampurna emphasized the need to find and develop more skilled coaches for the national interest, hence the necessity of establishing a badminton coaching academy.
