[Saba Sports News] The Indian team will need to wait another day for a clear assessment of Hardik Pandya’s injury. Pandya twisted his left ankle and could only bowl three deliveries during the Bangladesh innings in Pune on October 19.
The injury occurred in the ninth over of the match when Pandya tried to stop the ball with his leg during his first over. He left the field with the support staff, and Virat Kohli completed the over. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Pandya underwent a scan, and the results are pending. The scan reports are being sent to a specialist in Mumbai, and further actions will be determined based on the specialist’s assessment.
After the scans, Pandya returned to the ground and would have batted if needed. India comfortably chased down the 257-run target set by Bangladesh, winning the match by seven wickets.
Rohit Sharma downplayed the severity of the injury, saying it was not major, but sources suggest he might be rested for the next match against New Zealand on October 22. Pandya is reportedly experiencing significant pain in his ankle.
KL Rahul, when asked about Pandya’s condition after the game, stated that he had no information on his teammate’s injury status and deferred to the medical team for updates.
