[Saba Sports News] Pakistan veteran duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan enjoyed record-rich outings in the first T20I of the ongoing five-match series against New Zealand scheduled on Friday.
Babar accomplished a remarkable feat, going to the third spot in the list of batters with the most T20I runs. He overhauled Martin Guptill’s tally of 3,531 runs.
Babar scored a 35-ball 57 in the fixture, taking his T20I numbers a notch higher. At the moment, the 29-year-old has scored 3,542 runs in 105 T20I games.
Only Virat Kohli (4,008) and Rohit Sharma (3,853) have scored more runs than Babar in T20Is as of now.
The former Pakistan captain was going through a torrid run but started the series versus New Zealand on a high top-scoring in the innings, although his side lost by 46 runs.
Talking about Rizwan, he now stands levelled with former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Hafeez as Pakistan’s joint-highest six-hitter in T20Is.
In his brief stay at the crease, Rizwan smashed two maximums before getting dismissed for 25 runs, taking his tally to 76 sixes, the same as Hafeez.
The two teams will now meet in Hamilton for the second T20I on January 14.
