[Saba Sports News] An old quote from Anthony Edwards resurfaced after his Minnesota Timberwolves were blown out in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals. The Timberwolves were demolished by the Dallas Mavericks, 124-103, at Target Center in Minneapolis. The Mavericks took control in the first quarter and extended their lead to 36 points by the third quarter.
This beatdown on Minnesota’s home floor in an elimination game resembled the Mavericks’ Game 7 road win over the Phoenix Suns in the 2022 Western Conference semifinals, where Dallas won by 33 points.
After that game, Edwards had mocked the Suns on Instagram, saying, “This is a disgrace, bruh. Y’all got 36 points in the third quarter? This is terrible.”
Following Thursday’s Game 5 result, several fans teased Edwards for experiencing the same fate as the Suns he had mocked two seasons ago.
Although the Timberwolves outscored the Mavericks in the final two quarters, the 29-point deficit at halftime was insurmountable. Luka Doncic singlehandedly outscored the Timberwolves 20-19 in the first quarter, appearing motivated by a Timberwolves fan’s disrespectful gesture early in the game.
Doncic finished with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists on 14/22 shooting. Edwards tallied 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.
