[Saba Sports News] In the second match of World Cup 2023 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma led his team to a resounding victory, earning praise from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
Rohit’s scintillating century, his 31st in ODIs, secured India’s emphatic eight-wicket triumph over Afghanistan, setting a new World Cup centuries record.
Jasprit Bumrah also shone, taking four crucial wickets and delivering his best ODI World Cup performance, with figures of 4 for 39. Rohit’s blazing 131 off 84 balls, accompanied by contributions from Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer, led India to the target of 273.
Sachin Tendulkar expressed his admiration for both players on social media, highlighting India’s all-around strength in the tournament.
“Two fine performances by Bumrah and Rohit, who were well supported by the bowling and batting units respectively. The 2 games have seen different players contributing and that sets things up nicely for the 14th of October. Look forward!,” Tendulkar wrote on ‘X’.
