[Saba Sports News] It didn’t take long for the first flagrant-2 foul of the NBA season.
Brooklyn Nets big man Nic Claxton was ejected from Wednesday’s season opener after delivering a hard flagrant foul on Atlanta Hawks guard Dyson Daniels.
In the fourth quarter, Daniels had a breakaway opportunity when Claxton clotheslined him in the head and neck area to prevent the layup.
Daniels quickly got up to confront Claxton, but they were separated. After a replay review, Claxton was hit with a flagrant-2, leading to an automatic ejection. He ended the game with seven points and five rebounds in 15 minutes off the bench.
Claxton, 25, is considered a key piece for the Nets, known for his defense (averaging 2.3 blocks per game over the past two seasons), but he may need to manage his emotions better, as he was also ejected from a playoff game in the past.
