final points-earning tournament for the Paris Olympics, a disappointing
announcement has been made by Malaysian badminton player Ng Tze Yong. He took
to social media to announce his retirement from the sport due to injuries. This
news has garnered attention from fans and the media, as it means that Yong’s dream
of participating in the Paris Olympics has been shattered. Ng Tze Yong, upon
assessment by the medical team, was deemed unfit to resume high-level training
and competition, as it could worsen his injury. Consequently, he has withdrawn
from the Asian Championships. Yong has displayed remarkable performances in the
badminton world in recent years, achieving notable results. He emerged as the
champion in the men’s singles category at the 2022 Bahrain International
Badminton Challenge, secured a silver medal in the men’s singles at the 2022
Commonwealth Games, and won gold in the team competition and was the men’s
singles runner-up at the 2023 Arctic Badminton Open.
