[Saba Sports News] The
2024 Malaysia Badminton Open is scheduled to begin on January 9th. As the tournament
approaches, 23-year-old Malaysian player Ng Tze Yong is undergoing secret
training. According to Malaysian media reports, Yong, despite defeating Viktor
Axelsen, the world’s top-ranked men’s singles player, still faces challenges
due to deficiencies in physical fitness and strength. His form tends to
fluctuate, making it difficult for him to pose a threat to world-class
opponents and advance to the finals. In light of this, the Malaysian men’s
singles coaching team has brought in Mohd Rosdi Ghani, former physical coach of
the renowned player Lee Chong Wei, to provide special training for him. The
coaching team has been diligently working to address Yong’s weaknesses since
the end of the previous season. Given that this year is part of the Olympic cycle
and there will be numerous back-to-back tournaments, Yong must focus on
improving his physical fitness and strength in order to achieve favorable
results. National team coach Hendrawan acknowledged that while Yong holds an
advantage in terms of speed compared to Lee Chong Wei and LEE Zii Jia, he still
falls short in terms of strength and physical fitness. The aim of this special
training is to enhance his overall strength and strive for a medal at the
Malaysian Open.
