[Saba Sports News] Malaysian player Ng Tze Yong was forced to withdraw
from the French Open due to back surgery. As a result of his withdrawal, he
lost his final opportunity to earn Olympic points and is now at risk of losing
his qualification for the Paris Olympics. Yesterday, former Malaysian national
youth coach Mohmed Misbun Sidek was interviewed and revealed that Ng Tze Yong’s
injury was a result of overtraining. It has been reported that since December
of last year, the Badminton Association of Malaysia has intensified Yong’s
training regimen. According to the plan, Yong was required to undergo at least
6 hours of physical training per day in order to improve his overall fitness
during matches. Misbun believes that the sudden change in training methods has
placed an excessive load on Yong’s body, causing the injury. Yong is known for
his skillful playing style, and it is crucial to employ specific training
methods that suit his physical condition in order to ensure the smooth
progression of his career. Misbun also shared a training plan that was
previously developed for Yong, focusing on improving his skill and playing
style. It is worth mentioning that as early as last year, Misbun had accused
the Badminton Association of Malaysia of prematurely promoting rising men’s singles
star Hoh Justin to the national team, resulting in his subsequent tendon
rupture due to instability in his development.
