[Saba Sports News] Ng Tze Yong, the men’s singles player from the Malaysian national badminton team, who has been absent from the competition due to a back injury, has confirmed that he will end his 2024 season early and will not be able to return until January next year at the earliest. It is reported that the 24-year-old Ng Tze Yong suffered a back injury during the Malaysian Badminton Super 1000 tournament in January and the Asian Badminton Team Championships in February. Since then, he has undergone two surgeries, but the recovery has not been ideal. Unable to participate in any matches since the dream of the Paris Olympics was shattered, the Badminton Association of Malaysia applied for world ranking protection from the Badminton World Federation in May due to Ng Tze Yong’s recurring injury. At that time, Ng Tze Yong was ranked 18th in men’s singles. Therefore, when he returns to the competition in January, he will still be eligible to register for high-level tournaments with his world ranking of 18th. Over the next two months, Ng Tze Yong will continue his rehabilitation and training according to the advice of his physiotherapist. Due to the lack of intense training for a long time, the coaching team’s role in the recovery process is to encourage and motivate him to regain his confidence.
