[Saba Sports News] Australia’s pacers delivered an impressive performance on the fourth day of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, securing a 79-run victory over Pakistan. However, the match has been overshadowed by the contentious dismissal of Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.

Rizwan was making a significant contribution to Pakistan’s chase of a formidable 317-run target when, in the 61st over bowled by Pat Cummins, a bouncer appeared to graze the sweatband on his right glove before being caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Initially ruled not out, the decision was challenged by the Australian team.
After extensive replays, the third umpire instructed the on-field umpire to reverse the decision, leading to Rizwan’s reluctant departure from the field. A photo circulating on social media now shows a white mark on Rizwan’s forearm, sparking debate among fans about whether the ball actually hit the glove or his forearm.
The dismissal occurred at a pivotal moment in the match, with Pakistan at 162/5. Rizwan, along with Salman Ali Agha, had built a 57-run partnership, reducing the target to 98 runs. At the time of his dismissal, Rizwan was well-set with 35 runs from 62 balls. His departure essentially sealed the match’s outcome, as Pakistan’s lower order struggled against the formidable Australian pace attack, particularly Cummins, who showcased his skill with the bouncer.
With this victory, Australia clinched the series 2-0 ahead of the final Test in Sydney, starting January 3. Pakistan’s hopes of winning a Test series in Australia have dimmed, but the team still has a chance to earn valuable World Test Championship points and pursue a Test victory on Australian soil for the first time in 28 years.
