[Saba Sports News] Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter, Mohammad Rizwan, showered praise on his teammate Shaheen Shah Afridi, who recently claimed the top spot in the ICC bowling rankings.
Shaheen’s remarkable bowling performances in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India propelled him to this prestigious position. He is currently tied for the highest wicket-taker position with Adam Zampa and Marco Jansen, each having taken 16 wickets in the tournament.
One of Shaheen’s standout performances in this World Cup was against Australia at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, where he took 5/54. However, Pakistan faced a 62-run defeat against Australia in that match. Shaheen also played a vital role in Pakistan’s previous victory over Bangladesh in Kolkata, securing three wickets for just 23 runs.
Rizwan praised Shaheen’s achievements, stating, “Your #1 ICC ranking is a testament to your hard work and determination. You are destined for greater heights. Masha’Allah @iShaheenAfridi.”
Rizwan himself has been a standout performer for Pakistan in the tournament, leading the team in runs scored. He has accumulated 359 runs in seven matches at an impressive average of 71.80 and a strike rate of 98.89, including a century and a half-century.
Pakistan faces New Zealand next at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on November 4th. To secure a spot in the top four after the World Cup’s business end, Pakistan must win all their remaining matches, as they currently sit in fifth place with three wins and four losses in seven games.
