[Saba Sports News] Denver Nuggets’ Jamal Murray was notably absent from this year’s NBA All-Star Game roster, sparking comments from his coach Michael Malone. Despite Murray delivering arguably his best season to date, with averages of 21.2 points and 6.4 assists per game at a 47.8% shooting rate, his name was missing from the All-Star reserve list. Speaking before a game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Malone expressed his views on the oversight, emphasizing Murray’s exceptional contributions and playoff performances.
Malone stated, “[Murray] may not be an All-Star, but to me, he’s a superstar. He’s a world champion. He’s achieved feats in the playoffs that many All-Stars haven’t and likely won’t accomplish.” Murray’s pivotal role in the Nuggets’ previous championship run and his standout playoff performances underscore his significance, despite the All-Star snub.
While there’s still a chance for Murray to join the All-Star lineup as an injury replacement, he faces stiff competition from another Western Conference star with significant financial incentives at stake.
