[Saba Sports News] The Dallas Mavericks are reportedly seeking to enhance their roster by adding a player alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Recent reports from SNY’s Ian Begley indicate the Mavericks have inquired about the availability of Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant. Grant, who is in the second year of a $160 million contract signed in 2023, is considered a prime trade target due to Portland’s rebuilding efforts.
Grant, a 30-year-old forward, brings versatility and scoring ability, averaging 20.7 points with efficient shooting stats over his first two seasons in Portland. His capability to space the floor and create shots complements his defensive versatility, marked by a 7’2” wingspan that allows him to guard multiple positions.
With the Mavericks potentially losing Derrick Jones Jr. to free agency, Grant could be a significant upgrade. However, acquiring him would likely cost Dallas several assets, possibly including draft picks, as Portland looks to rebuild.
The Mavericks have been active in trade talks following their loss to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals, even placing a veteran player on the trade block to rejuvenate their lineup.
