Spanish badminton star Carolina Marin announced her withdrawal from the
competition due to being confirmed to have influenza A and feeling unwell. She
responded to the news on social media platforms, expressing his disappointment
at missing the Malaysian Open. He mentioned that he is currently in the process
of recovery and will focus on preparing for the next event, the Indian Open.
Marin, born in 1993, is a renowned women’s singles player in the badminton
world. She has held the world’s number one ranking in women’s singles for a
total of 66 weeks and has achieved numerous victories in world championships
and European championships. Marin is the second person in history to win an
Olympic singles gold medal and the first non-Asian player from Europe and Spain
to combine world championships and Olympic titles. In 2015, she was honored
with the BWF Female Athlete of the Year Award.
