[Saba Sports News] Marcus F. Gideon, the former
world number one Indonesian men’s doubles player, has made a significant
announcement on social media, stating that he is retiring from the sport. This
news has garnered immediate attention from the public. In his statement, he
expressed contentment and gratitude, saying, “I have no regrets in this
life because my achievements have surpassed my dreams. With a satisfied and
grateful heart, I conclude my career in the badminton world.” Born in
1991, Fernadi, alongside his teammate Sukamuljo, gained international
recognition for holding the world’s top ranking in men’s doubles for 226 weeks.
Their peak period was from 2017 to 2019 when they dominated various
tournaments, winning an average of seven to eight high-level open championships
each year. Fernadi maintained his position as the world’s number one for four
years until injuries began to affect his performance. The subsequent decline in
his abilities led him to consider retirement.
