[Saba Sports News] Previously, Manchester United released its financial report for last year, which showed a loss of £113.2 million. Over the past three years, Manchester United’s total losses have reached £254.7 million, far exceeding the profit and sustainability rules (PSR) that allow Premier League clubs to spend up to £105 million. Manchester United stated in a declaration: “The club remains committed to complying with the PSR and the Financial Fair Play regulations.” It is understood that Manchester United’s expenditures for the 2023-24 season also include costs for a “special project,” amounting to £47.8 million. According to previous financial reports, at least £39.9 million of this was related to the costs of selling equity to James Ratcliffe. Last year, Manchester United was fined €300,000 by UEFA for violating Financial Fair Play regulations. Subsequently, Manchester United’s compensation plan for losses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic was disclosed. According to the club’s previously published financial results, the Premier League allowed Manchester United to claim £40 million for losses due to the pandemic, but UEFA will not accept this figure. It is understood that Manchester United is claiming this £40 million due to the cancellation of summer commercial matches and the loss of commercial sponsorships.
