Sports News] In August of this year, Tan Sri Mohamad Norza Zakaria, the
president of the Malaysian Badminton Association, announced his contemplation
of resigning from the position after the current season. This decision has
sparked a heated debate in the country, as his original term was set until
2025. Recently, Malaysia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Tseow Suan, addressed
this matter in an interview with the media. She publicly expressed her hope
that Tan Sri Norza would reconsider his resignation, emphasizing that he is the
sole leader capable of driving the development of Malaysian badminton. Tan Sri
Norza has achieved remarkable accomplishments since assuming the presidency of
the Malaysian Badminton Association in 2017. He has been a key figure in the “Road
to Gold Medal” initiative and is set to guide the national badminton team
at least until the 2024 Paris Olympics. Tan Sri Norza holds a prominent
position within the domestic sports community and has been honored with the
National Medal and the Exemplary Sports Leadership Award. Under his leadership,
Malaysian badminton has garnered numerous international accolades, including
the men’s doubles championship at last year’s World Championships in Tokyo.
