[Saba Sports News] In preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Malaysian national badminton team has implemented evening training sessions dubbed as “cram school.” Rexy Mainaky, coaching director of the Badminton Academy of Malaysia (ABM), highlighted that players like Soh Wooi Yik requested these sessions, supported by the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM). Players are now participating in additional training sessions two to three times per week. However, the frequency of nighttime training depends on players’ conditions to avoid injuries or illness, as they already have fixed morning and noon training sessions. The team has successfully conducted three midnight training sessions so far. Rexy added that medal-contending players will embark on a 10-day special training in France from July 10 to prepare for the Paris Olympics starting July 23. Starting training a month early aims to ensure the players are mentally prepared. The training location is deliberately quiet, away from media and fan disturbances.
