[Saba Sports News] Previously, during a match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, fans of Atletico Madrid threw debris at Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. According to Spanish media reports, the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has launched a criminal investigation into this incident. Reports indicate that the prosecutor’s office initiated the criminal investigation without waiting for any related complaints. According to the match referee’s report, three lighters and a water bottle were thrown at Courtois during the match, causing a temporary interruption. The prosecutor’s office has tasked the provincial intelligence department with investigating the incident and analyzing relevant footage to identify those involved. In terms of sports penalties, the Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee initially imposed a three-match partial closure of Atletico Madrid’s home ground. However, after Atlético Madrid appealed, the appeals committee reduced the penalty to one match, which has recently been served in a game against Leganes. Additionally, the anti-violence committee proposed harsher penalties in last week’s meeting, including a complete closure of the Metropolitano Stadium for two weeks and a fine of €65,000. Atletico Madrid still has the opportunity to defend itself to avoid this penalty.
