[Saba Sports News] As Bangladesh gears up for a three-match T20I series in the USA, followed by the T20 World Cup, their primary concern centers around the form of Litton Kumar Das. While consistency at the top order, death bowling, and fielding are areas of focus, Litton’s recent struggles have raised the most alarm.
Litton has been in a slump, scoring just 79 runs in his last six T20Is, leading to his exclusion from the playing XI in the final two T20Is against Zimbabwe. His place in the World Cup squad is largely due to his wicket-keeping skills. His recent performance against Zimbabwe, where he repeatedly failed to execute a scoop shot, drew criticism.
In a statement on the BCB’s official Facebook page, Litton said, “During bad times, overthinking can be detrimental. The key is to work hard, stay cool, and focus on cricket. I receive constant motivation from coaches and my wife, which helps me stay positive.”
Litton emphasized the importance of maintaining form during good times and praised Towhid Hridoy for his recent performances. He acknowledged the team’s improvement since the last T20 World Cup and expressed optimism about playing fearless cricket in the upcoming tournament.
Reflecting on past World Cups, Litton admitted his underperformance and expressed a desire to improve. “From the 2022 World Cup, our T20 side has been balanced. We’ve won many series playing good cricket. If we stay calm and cool, we have a good chance,” he said.
Litton also highlighted the supportive role of senior players like Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah in making juniors feel comfortable in the team.
“Shakib bhai and Riyad bhai are very friendly, which helps ease the nervousness for newcomers,” he added.
As Bangladesh heads into the World Cup, the focus remains on Litton’s form and how the team can build on their recent successes to perform well on the global stage.
