[Saba Sports News] Recently, Olympic champion Lin Dan visited his
birthplace, Longyan, to participate in speeches and exchange activities
organized by Longyan College. The event attracted the participation of over
2,000 students. During the event, Lin Dan shared his journey from frustration
to success and engaged in interactive competitions with the students to promote
the spirit of sportsmanship. Students from Longyan College created several
portraits depicting the highlights of Lin Dan’s career. Since his retirement,
Lin Dan has been actively involved in the development of sports in his
hometown, particularly badminton, and has made multiple donations to Longyan
College. In recognition of his contributions, Lin Dan was appointed as a
Visiting Professor by Longyan University. The title of visiting professor is an
honorary designation that typically involves certain responsibilities, such as
delivering academic presentations or engaging in collaborative research for the
appointing university. At the conclusion of the event, student representatives
performed “Heat War Release,” an original song by Lin Dan and Xiaoou
Zhou, the lead singer of the band Zero Point. The song served as the theme song
for the 2012 “Badminton Tournament” city badminton competition. One
of the lyrics reads, “I wave my strong hands and strive towards the
ultimate success.” Lin Dan expressed that this was his best wish for the
students.
