[Saba Sports News] Li Yongbo, the former
badminton world champion, made an unexpected career choice after retiring.
Instead of pursuing another high-profile profession, he decided to venture into
the durian farming industry in Malaysia. Following his resignation as the head
coach of the Chinese badminton team, Li Yongbo turned down a lucrative offer
and embraced the opportunity to become a durian farmer. Intrigued by the
potential profitability of operating a durian orchard, he invested in a vast
expanse of land in Kelantan, Malaysia, encompassing over 200 acres and
approximately 1,400 durian trees. The orchard, named LYB Orchard after his
initials, boasts a distinctive entrance adorned with a large badminton racket
and ball, creating a whimsical contrast with its owner’s background. Since
transitioning to this new lifestyle, Li Yongbo has found contentment, no longer
burdened by the pressures of fame and fortune, and relishes in a tranquil and
comfortable existence.
