Sports News] Malaysia’s top badminton player will not be joining the team for
training in France, as reported by Malaysian media. The Malaysian national
badminton team has planned a 10-day training program in the Aire-sur-Leis area
of France from July 10th to 20th in preparation for the Paris Olympics.
However, it comes as a surprise that Lee Zii Jia, Malaysia’s number one
badminton player, will not be participating. This training program was
initiated by Malaysia Datuk with the aim of providing financial support and
additional services to outstanding athletes, including operational expenses,
training, monthly allowances, sports science, medical and nutritional
treatments. However, athletes must remain in the top 10 world rankings to be
eligible for this program. Lee Zii Jia decided not to join the “Road to
Gold Medal” program as he preferred to train with the support of his own
team. Currently ranked among the top ten in the world in men’s singles, Lee Zii
Jia recently represented the national team and achieved runner-up at the Asian
Badminton Team Championships.
